Non-invasive continuous embryo monitoring is a relatively new in vitro cultivation method. Embryo development is monitored under a special microscope outside the incubator.
This method allows for continuous on-screen monitoring of the embryo. Embryo cell division is monitored daily and those embryos which develop normally until the blastocyst stage are selected for embryo transfer. Embryo monitoring increases the chance of a successful pregnancy.
Reasons for Embryo Monitoring
- Spermogram results at low end of the norm
- Low fertilisation rate after ICSI
- Low viability of embryos in previous cycles
- History of miscarriage
- Advanced age of woman
- Donor egg recipient
